- Customization
-
- Sage MAS 500 leverages today's technology to provide customers
with the tools needed to keep their businesses on-track.
The most important feature is our underlying technology which is 100% Microsoft,
including SQL Server, Windows,
and Visual Basic - a .NET language. The underlying technology
is one of the many reasons why our customers can quickly and

6.2 benchmark shows that once again, Sage MAS 500 is
the enterprise market performance leader, processing over 360,000
sales orders per hour in a multi-user environment. That translates

Four Levels of Customization |
- Sage MAS 500
can be customized to meet your current business needs as
well as well as future growth by maximizing user flexibility
and scalability. The product includes four levels of customization
- user-defined fields, Customizer module, Software Development Kit
(development tools), and source code. Many features - including
menus, lookup windows, reports, and the user interface - can
be customized without programming. If you require increased functionality,
Sage MAS 500 is built on a powerful technology foundation
that can be tailored using industry standard tools, resulting
in shorter development cycles and lower customization costs for
you. These tools also enable Sage MAS 500 to be readily

module enables you to easily modify standard screens and forms

productivity. Changes can be made to specific users or groups,
including departments, companies, executives, or other groups
that you define. Many controls are modifiable without extensive
programming knowledge.

Development Kit is available to those who wish to customize applications more
fundamentally, and lets you finish your development tasks faster and at a lower
cost. It provides Visual Basic controls, wizards and utilities
to solve housekeeping issues, including concurrency, user interface,
security controls, data handling and more. With these issues
handled by the Software Development Kit, your developers are free
to build the application itself, saving you development time and money.

Commitment to Microsoft Platforms |
- Microsoft
Technology
- If your business
is committed to Microsoft platforms, or you want to migrate to
a Microsoft-centric IT approach, Sage MAS 500 is the
best choice you can make for your enterprise software package.
Since Sage MAS 500 is the only application in the enterprise
market developed from the start exclusively for Microsoft platforms,
it's optimized in ways competitive solution can't be, and designed
to support the latest features of current Microsoft releases.
-
- Our .NET
Future
- Sage MAS 500
already displays Sages ongoing commitment to leading-edge
technology by delivering full functionality on the
now-current Microsoft architecture. This commitment will continue
into the .NET era, tempered by Sages focus on ensuring
that our solutions provide real benefits to the customer rather
than bleeding-edge technology for its own sake.
-
- Sage MAS 500
was originally developed exclusively for the Microsoft
platform, and is therefore perfectly positioned to evolve with
Microsoft to the .NET platform. Like Microsoft, Sage recognized
the need for two distinct application delivery technologies:
Windows for the trained operator, requiring a rich UI and high
performance, and Web for the occasional user, requiring simplicity
and ubiquity. This is reflected in our two development environments:
the VB/SQL environment for core modules such as GL, and the DHTML/COM+
environment for eCustomer, eSalesforce and eExecutive.
-
- Microsoft's .NET
strategy incorporates the same distinction, and Sage will move these applications
to the updated technologies. The core applications will be recompiled
with Visual Studio.NET and leverage the WinForm engine. The web
applications will be moved to .NET and leverage both the WebForm
engine and ASP.NET. Click here
for more information about Sage's .NET strategy.
